SportPlus Camps: Summer, Winter, and More

SportPlus Academy runs camps for every major school break: summer, winter, spring, and even one-day-camps on school holidays. Our Summer Break Camps run June, July, and first half of August. Spring Break and Winter Break Camps run the weeks that are most common for K-12 school breaks in the Matthews - Indian Trail area.

At other places, many camps function more like child care, with the priority being supervised play to simply keep kids occupied throughout the day. There's little effort by camp organizers to foster learning and growth. SportPlus Camps are different: you come, you learn.

Summer Camp

Our flagship summer offering is the SportPlus Summer Camp—a dynamic, theme-based program that changes focus each year to keep things fresh and exciting for returning campers. Summer camps run the months of June, July, and the first two weeks of August before school starts. Last summer we ran a popular STEM Adventure Camp, where kids combined sports with hands-on science, technology, engineering, and math challenges. Our theme-based approach ensures no two summers are the same—kids build on skills from previous years while discovering new passions. Previous years have featured all-sports immersion, creative arts integration, and more.

Some camps are full day camps going from 9am to 5pm (with option for extended pick up and drop off hours of 8am and 6pm) and others are half day camps that run either morning session 9am-1pm or afternoon session of 1:00-5pm. Camp offerings change every summer so give us a call or check our Facebook for more information.

Winter Break Camp

It's chilly outside but that doesn't mean kids have to stay at home. During school winter break, SportPlus offers Winter Break Camps!
Camp offerings change every winter, but there will be full day (9am-5pm) and half day camp options.

Camps run both weeks of Winter Break Monday-Friday. Note that there is no camp on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Eve, or New Years Day. We launch a unique winter camp program every holiday season so give us a call or check our Facebook for more information. Our winter camps often include holiday-themed fun, like festive crafts, indoor obstacle challenges, and team-building games that tie into winter sports or seasonal learning (e.g., math around snowflake symmetry).

School Holiday Day Camps

School holidays can be a headache for working parents. With SportPlus Day Camps, school holidays become exciting and enriching days for kids. Our day camps are specially designed with a full-day curriculum that focuses on one of our sport or learning programs.

Come spend your teacher workdays and other school holidays learning new skills and activities! SportPlus hosts day camps on all school holidays in the Union County Schools calendar. Spots are limited and are first come first serve. Registration firmly closes one day prior to each holiday/ school day off. Each holiday focuses on one core program (e.g., full gymnastics day or chess & math deep-dive), with flexible scheduling for teacher workdays. We follow the Union County Schools calendar closely, and registration is simple online or by phone. Early sign-up recommended—many families book recurring spots for consistency.

Why Families in Charlotte Choose SportPlus Camps

At SportPlus Academy, we go beyond basic supervised play—we create intentional experiences that help kids grow healthier, smarter, and more confident. Our camps combine physical activity with brain-boosting learning in a fun, supportive environment close to home.

Key Benefits Your Child Will Gain:

  • Physical Fitness & Coordination — Daily sports like gymnastics, soccer, basketball, dance, and more build strength, agility, and healthy habits. Kids move, play, and burn energy in safe indoor/outdoor spaces—no more "screen time all break" regrets.

  • Cognitive & Academic Growth — We integrate learning seamlessly: math puzzles, chess strategy games, art projects, STEM challenges (like last year's popular STEM Adventure theme), and more. Campers sharpen focus, problem-solving, and creativity without feeling like "school."

  • Social Skills & Confidence — Small groups foster real friendships, teamwork, and leadership. Shy kids open up during group games; outgoing ones learn to include others.

  • Safe, Convenient, & Family-Friendly — Full-day (9am–5pm) or half-day options, extended hours (8am–6pm), and fully supervised indoor facilities (rain or shine). We follow Union County school calendars closely, with no camp on major holidays.

Parents tell us their kids come home excited to share what they learned, more energetic, and asking when the next camp is. Whether your child is new to sports or a seasoned player, our themed, evolving programs keep things fresh and engaging year after year.

Ready to see the difference? Spots are limited—call (980) 221-2535 or check our Facebook for upcoming themes and registration!

We live here, so we teach here.

SportPlus Academy has been located in Indian Trail since 2021, serving neighborhoods across Charlotte, including Monroe, Matthews, Unionville, Wesley Chapel, and Weddington.

SportPlus was founded by a local mother who felt the challenges many parents face. She wanted her children to enjoy a variety of extracurricular activities, but quality programs and kids' sports in Charlotte were scattered. While traveling abroad, she discovered "kid super centers"—large, all-in-one facilities where children could explore multiple sports. She asked herself, "Why isn’t there a center like this near me?"

Other parents in Indian Trail felt the same way. Compared to central Charlotte, it was clear that our area was underserved. So, the dream began: why not build a place near us, where sports and learning come together under one roof?

Indian Trail is home. And it was clear to us that there was no better place to build this premier kids' center for youth enrichment—a center where children can find a sport they love and pursue it, where they can learn and challenge their minds, and where they can become healthier and smarter.

We invite you to visit us and discover the possibilities yourself!
